The Melbourne Park is all set to host the 107th edition of Australian Open and 51st of the Modern Era from 14th Jan to 27th Jan 2019. This is the 1st Grand Slam of the Four Grand Slams of the Year. All the players want to start the New Year with the victory and there will not be a better opportunity then to win a Grand Slam tournament. This is now considered as the largest Tennis event of the Modern Era. During last year the Australian Open holds the record of the highest attendance at the Grand Slam event with 743,667 people attending the 2018 Australian Open.
There are some rules which are introduced by international Tennis Federation in this year’s Australian open. This is the first time in the history of Australian open when a final set Tie Break is introduced in the event. When the score reaches to 6 6 in the Final Set, the first player to score 10 points and leading by 2 points will be a winner. Due to the summer season in Australia 10 minutes break will also be allowed after the 3rd set for all the men’s event
The matches will be played in the men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s double, women’s double, mixed double, junior boys and girls and the wheelchair category. Roger Federer most probably the greatest player in the history of Tennis currently 3rd in ATP rankings will be looking to win 7th Australian open third time in a row and 21st Grand Slam of his career. In 2018 he beats Marin Cilic 6–2, 6–7, 6–3, 3–6, 6–1 to win 2nd time in a row and 6th Australian open.
Novak Djokovic is also a strong contender to win this event. He along with Roger Federer wins 6 Australian open in their career and both looks to go one step ahead of each other. Novak is currently No 1 in ATP ranking also wins 14 major titles in his career. Rafael Nadal another name with high expectations 2nd in ATP ranking looking for major breakthrough in his career. Andy Murray making a comeback after a Sue Barker. He is coming back to the court after a long gap and looking to take full advantage of Melbourne park where he already won 5 Australian Open titles. In these aspects we can say that Race will not be that easy for Roger Federer this time.
In women’s category Carline Wozniacki 3rd in ATP rankings will defend her title. Last year she beats Simona Halep 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 to win the first Grand Slam of her career. After that she unable to win another major in 2018 but she definitely be a great challenge for all other players. The current No 1 Simona Halep who lost last year final all set to take the centre stage and looking to turn the tables this time around. She is in the form of her life. Serena Williams also be the dangerous opponent I for other players. She is considered as the best tennis player in women’s category with 23 major titles in her career. She already won 7 Australian open titles. Last time she won in 2017.
