Justin Rose joins Tiger Woods and Rory McIlory
Justin Rose birdied three of the final four holes to finish back-to-back European Tour wins with a one-shot victory at the Turkish Airlines Open.
Rose moved into a four-way tie for the lead in Turkey midway through the final round after birdies at the 2nd, 7th and 9th holes. At that stage, Dylan Frittelli, Padraig Harrington and Kiradech Aphibarnrat shared top spot on the leaderboard.
Colsaerts and Dylan Frittelli who chipped in three times in four holes during his round, were tied for second place, Padraig Harrington had to eagle the last to ensure a playoff, but instead made par and then had to settle for fourth place on 16 under.
Justin Rose joins Tiger Woods and Rory Mcllory as the only men to have pursued a WGC title with a victory in their next tournament start. Rose has now got a Rolex Series title to add to his U.S Open, his Olympic Gold and his WGC Wins.
His victory has given him 985,495 points in the Race to Dubai, and he is now 134,839 adrift as he tries to finish the season as Europe’s number one for the second time, having won the Order of Merit in 2007. After two successive wins, the former US Open champion is long-time leader Fleetwood’s closest challenger.
“I would have said it was a B-minus season a couple weeks ago,” Rose said.
“Now I’m probably at an A-minus with one putt at Augusta away from being an A-plus.”
