Super Bowl 2020 – Teams To Watch

by | Dec 9, 2019 | Sport Events | 0 comments

Another NFL regular season is nearly in the book and teams are fighting for all important playoff positioning.  The number one seed has won each of the last six Super Bowls and numerous teams this season have a shot at the big game.  Super Bowl LIV will be held February 2, 2020 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. It will be a record-tying 10th time that Miami has hosted the biggest sporting event of the year in the United States.

Last season the New England Patriots avenged their 41-33 upset loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII to take down the Los Angeles Rams, 13-3. The game was the lowest scoring Super Bowl in the history of the event and the Rams’ three points tied the Dolphins in Super Bowl VI for the lowest team point total in the event.  The win for the Patriots was their sixth title, which tied the Steelers for most victories in Super Bowl history.

Taking a look at this year’s contenders, we first examine the AFC.  The Baltimore Ravens, thanks for an eight-game winning streak are tied for top with the New England Patriots at 10-2. The Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs lead the AFC South and AFC West, respectively, while the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers currently hold the wild card spots. The Tennessee Titans, Oakland Raiders, and Indianapolis Colts are still in the mix.

In the NFC, the New Orleans Saints and the Seattle Seahawks hold the top two seeds with a 10-2 record. Green Bay lead the AFC North with a 9-3 record and hold the three seed, while the Cowboys are leading a poor NFC East with only a 6-6 record.  San Francisco, despite a 10-2 record is the fifth seed due to being in second place in the NFC West.  The Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears are all in the mix for the sixth seed, while the Philadelphia Eagles still have a shot at the NFC East despite sitting at 5-7.
