Surfing will make its debut in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, for the first time in its seemingly limitless history. Making the dreams of surfing pioneer Duke Kahanamoku finally come true, after almost 100 years.

Other sports such as, archery, Baseball, Basketball, Boxing, Canoeing, Cycling, Fencing, Judo, Karate, Rowing, Shooting, Sport Climbing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Triathlon, Track and Field, Water Polo and even Skateboarding will be changing the Olympic Games 2020 as we know it.

The contest will be held at Shidashita Beach on the open ocean, despite advocates for an artificial wave pool as conditions of the ocean and strength and direction of wind will play as major factors.

Taking place 40 miles outside Tokyo in Chiba. The event will host 40 of the world’s top surfers, 20 men, and 20 women.

Each wave is different, making surfing a competition against mother nature as well as a contest between the top athletes.
